WHO WE ARE
Phi Gamma Delta is an organization of gentlemen who share similar values and strive to be the best that they can be. Our fraternity was founded on the values of Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality, and Excellence. These values guide us in our mission to unite men in enduring friendships, to stimulate the pursuit of knowledge, and to build courageous leaders who serve the world with the best that is in them.
As we are first and foremost at Northeastern to study and excel in our scholastic pursuits, we always aim to boost each other up and aid each other in our studies by pairing people with tutors within the fraternity as well as scheduling daily study rooms around campus. Our cumulative GPA is currently a 3.43, placing us above the Inter-Fraternity Council average, 3.39, and the overall University's male average, 3.33.
We also emphasize campus involvement and encourage every brother to get involved with at least one other organization on campus. Our influence on campus comes from our active participation in extra-curriculars ranging from political clubs, music groups, club sports, and more.
In Phi Gamma Delta, every brother contributes in defining what our fraternity stands for. Our legacy will be the what me make it, and will reflect the effort we put into building our organization to be an example of everything great that a fraternity can be. This chapter is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication put in by our founding fathers to create something truly special. If you're interested in Greek life and are looking to make an impact as a courageous leader, FIJI just might be the fraternity for you.

History
The fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta was founded on May 1, 1848 at Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. We hold our letters as sacred; therefore, we limit the number of places that they can be displayed. We are commonly referred to as FIJI and use that nickname, or Phi Gam, in most places rather than our Greek letters. We have 160+ chapters in the US & Canada and have initiated more than 180,000 brothers since 1848.
At Northeastern, our history is brief yet exciting. In the Spring of 2017, two Graduate Brothers of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, Joshua Cox and Colin Treanor, visited Northeastern University to begin the process of colonization. Our Fraternity's International Headquarters is always looking to expand our brotherhood to new universities, and they do so by
creating colonies. A colony functions in many of the same ways that a fully-fledged chapter does, by recruiting new brothers, hosting philanthropy and service events, and promoting our values. We had to build ourselves from the ground up to prove to IHQ that we were worthy of full recognition in the form of a charter, that we truly embodied the values of Phi Gamma Delta. In the Summer of 2018, we jumped on the first opportunity available to petition to receive our charter, by presenting at the Dallas Ekklesia, a gathering of both undergraduate and graduate brothers from every chapter of FIJI. We were granted our charter, and became the Nu Eta Chapter in the Fall of 2018, just a short year and a half after our initial colonization. Pictured below, you can see all of our the pledge classes that we have initiated since our Alpha class.
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."
- Calvin Coolidge, Amherst 1895
BROTHERHOOD
In FIJI, one of our core values is Friendship, "the sweetest influence." Friendship leads us to establish genuine, authentic relationships both with brothers within the fraternity and in the university as a whole. To foster friendship within our fraternity, our brotherhood chairs put on events for brothers to attend at least once a week. Brotherhood events can range anywhere from nights out on the town getting dinner, to barbecues, to beach days, paintball, camping trips and anywhere in between. Brotherhood, however, is more than hanging out with each other - it's about showing up to support one another, trusting each other, and challenging each other to always be the best individuals we can be.
PHILANTHROPY
We hold philanthropy events in order to raise money and support for various causes, those of which include the United Services Organization, Donate Life America, and Youth Enrichment Services. In addition, each year we participate in Northeastern's Relay For Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. We raised the most money in IFC and 4th out of all teams overall in the Spring of 2018, and raised the 3rd most in IFC and 5th out of all teams overall in the Spring of 2019, raising a total of $25,558 across both years. Our own marquee philanthropy events include the Phi Gamma Slamma Basketball Tournament that raises money for USO and the YMCA, and our annual Trivia Mania that raises money for USO and YES.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
As we say in FIJI, service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on Earth. We have the ability, the opportunity, and the duty to serve our fellow human beings - our reward is the satisfaction that comes from that service. Throughout the year, we partner with groups on campus and other Greek organizations to give ourselves every opportunity we can to give back to the community we live in.
